Wallonia and Brussels Environment | GRO 2025: Belgium’s unified tool for sustainable buildings
The first unified version of GRO (a free tool that helps integrate sustainability into construction projects from design to completion) is now available for Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels. GRO 2025 is the result of a collaboration between the Flemish government agency responsible for infrastructure management, the Public Service of Wallonia, and Brussels Environment, with the support of experts, architects, and construction professionals from across the country. GRO supports all project types (schools, residential buildings, offices, or cultural spaces) whether new constructions or renovations.
GRO provides a clear, modular approach to sustainability, is versatile across different project scales, and is user-friendly with structured guidelines. The latest version aligns criteria across regions, introduces three levels (Analysis, Concept, Design), and includes Circular Construction and Climate-Responsive Design as key pillars.
