15 October 2024 Members' News

The Flemish Prime Minister has delivered the government declaration on the overall social situation in Flanders, the general lines of his policy, and the budget in the Flemish Parliament, outlining a new coalition agreement of over 200 pages that addresses critical issues for OVAM and its stakeholders.

The Flemish government's ambitious goals for this legislative term include evaluating the Flanders Circular platform, implementing the 2023 Asbestos Reduction Action Plan, and reducing residual waste by 30% by 2030. Other objectives involve developing policies for harmful substances like PFAS, creating a cooperation agreement with other regions to minimise food waste, and enhancing soil recovery policies under the "polluter pays" principle.
