The UK’s first electrical repair voucher trial and a community-driven food waste project have each been awarded GBP 100 000 (EUR 118 784) from the newly revamped North London Community Fund. The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) selected The Restart Project and Octopus Community Network to lead these initiatives, which focus on waste reduction and encouraging pro-environmental behaviors in local communities over a two-year period.
Since its launch in 2017, the North London Community Fund has supported 61 organisations, fostering sustainability and reducing waste. This year’s projects aim to strengthen collaboration among local community and repair groups. The Restart Project will trial an electrical repair voucher scheme to reduce waste and build community resilience, while Octopus Community Network will focus on addressing food waste through innovative, community-driven solutions.
