03 March 2025 Members' News

The citizens of the eight LIPOR municipalities are becoming increasingly engaged in recycling. In 2024, LIPOR received approximately 69 479 tonnes of materials for recycling, including paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass, marking a 2.1% increase from 2023. The sorting units processed 17 566 tonnes of packaging (+4.4%), 25 268 tonnes of paper/cardboard (+2.3%), and 23 426 tonnes of glass. Additionally, selective collection efforts led to a significant rise in bio-waste collection, reaching 55 377 tonnes (+6.7%). While municipal waste generation increased by 1.4%, LIPOR directed 356 866 tonnes to energy recovery, with only 4.3% of waste sent to landfills. LIPOR's recycling efforts contributed to a reduction of 104,000 tCO₂e in greenhouse gas emissions. Committed to treating waste as a resource, LIPOR and its municipalities focus on prevention, reuse and recycling.
