CITEO has launched the infographic "Sorting and Recycling Aluminum Packaging: A Review", highlighting the recycling process and challenges faced with aluminum packaging in France. Aluminum packaging, such as cans, aerosols, and coffee packets, represent only 2% of household packaging but amount to 97 000 tonnes annually. Despite aluminum’s recyclability, only 37% of these items are currently recycled. The infographic outlines the steps in the recycling process, including sorting, crushing, and melting to produce new ingots, as well as the environmental benefits of recycling aluminum, such as reduced CO₂ emissions and less reliance on raw materials. CITEO encourages households to improve sorting and participate in recycling efforts, with tools like the “Guide du Tri” (sorting guide) app to clarify recycling doubts.
