The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) has announced two new funding programs to support local entities in improving waste management. The first program allocates EUR 5 million for the establishment of new recycling centers or upgrades to existing ones, aiming to enhance selective waste collection and treatment. Eligible projects include the construction of facilities in underserved areas and structural or equipment upgrades to ensure better accessibility, safety, and compliance with current regulations.
The second program, with a budget of EUR 3 million, promotes the use of recycled aggregates from construction and demolition waste in municipal construction projects. This aligns with the legal mandate for local entities to use at least 5% recycled materials in public and private works as part of climate change mitigation efforts. The funding covers the purchase, transportation, and application of recycled aggregates, which can be used for rural roads, concrete prefabrication, and other infrastructure projects.
