The Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC) has allocated EUR 2.03 million to 39 projects aimed at waste prevention and reuse in municipal areas. This funding supports 25 non-profit organisations, 13 local entities, and one university. The funds will help launch reuse centers, tackle food waste, and implement local waste prevention plans. Notable projects include the creation of a reuse center in the Barcelona area, and a food waste initiative providing job training for vulnerable groups.
ARC also awarded EUR 485 535 to local governments for developing and updating waste prevention plans, with Montcada i Reixac receiving EUR 87 441 for a mobile lending and reuse center, and Bellver de Cerdanya receiving EUR 26 137 for the "Rexcatering" project, which helps collective kitchens manage food surplus. Additionally, the Autonomous University of Barcelona received EUR 27 067 for a project focused on reducing food waste and promoting reusable packaging in its campus bars and restaurants.
