The city of Genoa received the Best Practice award from the European Union's Urbact Monitoring Committee for its "C-City" project. This award was given to 116 initiatives selected from thousands of proposals related to circular economy and the European Green Deal. "C-City," launched in 2021, aims to transform waste into resources, with a goal of making Genoa a circular city by 2050. Key actions include the creation of a Circular Hub, the opening of the Surpluse AMIU reuse center, and organising sectoral events to promote sustainability.
The project is a key part of Genoa's long-term sustainability vision, focusing on resource management and circular economy practices. Supported by AMIU Genoa, which oversees sustainable waste management and promotes responsible practices, C-City's strategy rests on three pillars: eco-design, long-use, and re-use.
