Vitrus Ambiente | Guimarães named 2026 European Green Capital

ACR+ congratulates the city of Guimarães, recently announced by the European Commission as the winner of the 2026 European Green Cities Awards. We are ready to support them in this adventure! Guimarães, which involves ACR+ member Vitrus Ambiente, won the European Green Capital title for its continuous improvement in sustainability across all environmental management areas. The city has successfully integrated sustainability into its culture, with support from citizens, academia, and the private sector. The jury was particularly impressed by Guimarães' creative use of science and data, as well as its 'One Planet City' motto, which inspires others toward a sustainable future. Additionally, Águeda (Portugal) and Vaasa (Finland) received the European Green Leaf award.
