Greater Pamplona | New waste collection system on industrial areas

26 November 2024 Members' News

A new waste collection system has been implemented in the industrial zones of Greater Pamplona, starting with a pilot project in the Landaben industrial area. This initiative replaces the inefficient system of street containers, which had become dumping grounds for industrial waste, debris, and other hazardous materials. The pilot includes the removal of these containers and the distribution of bins to individual businesses for proper waste management. These bins will be kept inside the companies and only placed outside on designated collection days.

The regional waste management organisation has been working closely with the 140 businesses in Landaben to ensure the successful adoption of this new system. Each company received personalised bins based on their waste production. As part of the transition, the organisation is also introducing a pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) system to encourage sustainable practices. Following the pilot's evaluation, the system will be gradually expanded to other industrial zones in the region, covering approximately 4 000 companies.
