The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) urges the integration of sustainability into the national curriculum to prepare students for the future. In its response to the government’s curriculum review, NLWA emphasises the need to teach waste management and the circular economy from an early age while advocating for vocational qualifications in green industries to equip students with practical skills for careers in sustainability. With initiatives like the upcoming educational centre at Edmonton EcoPark, NLWA aims to further inspire sustainable practices and reduce school waste, particularly food waste, which represents nearly 40% of waste. These efforts highlight the urgent need for curriculum reforms that make sustainability a core focus.
