New beach litter containers along the coast thanks to the Cmartlife project will facilitate waste disposal on the beach in Flanders. In collaboration with OVAM and eight coastal municipalities, efforts under the "Plastic-Free Coast" initiative will see the installation of 38 new beach litter containers across these communities. These containers feature three compartments for general waste; plastic, metal, and drink cartons; and storage for cleaning materials and special finds like toys or valuables, aiding visitors and volunteers in maintaining clean beaches. The initiative, supported by a 60% EU-Life Cmartlife grant from OVAM, aims to enhance coastal cleanliness and environmental awareness among residents and tourists alike starting this summer.
