ACR+ member Wallonia has approved a new subsidy of EUR 8 million to the seven Walloon intermunicipal waste management companies to limit the impacts of the energy crisis on waste management and indirectly on the waste bill of Walloon households. The subsidy will help to compensate for 60% of the increase in costs caused by the energy crisis. This measure will enable intermunicipal companies to continue waste collection and treatment services while maintaining a controlled cost for all municipalities and Walloon households. The subsidy will be distributed indirectly to each municipality in proportion to its population size.
