ACR+ member City of Warsaw has ended its campaign against food waste by organising educational meetings at local markets. The initiative was first carried out in 2022, resulting in the collection of almost 30 tonnes of fruits and vegetables from six marketplaces. City officials and educators approached 142 traders and 224 market customers. They noted a growing awareness of the value of food and the need to counteract food losses. This action aimed at traders selling food products in Warsaw's markets will be repeated between April and May 2023, to increase awareness of food losses and bio-waste, and the possibility of donating vegetables to those in need. The city hopes that in direct talks it will be possible to develop individual solutions that will lead to a reduction of food waste, in particular fruit and vegetables, which are the most wasted.
