ACR+ member Maastricht wants to move towards a fully circular economy in 2050. This has been decided by the Maastricht municipal council on the basis of the Raw Materials Vision for South Limburg. This vision shows that there are opportunities for accelerating the regional circular economy in South Limburg. Maastricht finds it important to take advantage of these opportunities and thus prepare the city and region for a sustainable future. The municipality will therefore increase its circular procurement, rising to 50% by 2025. The city council also wants to investigate the possibilities of using household and industrial waste as a raw material. EUR 50,000 will be available in 2021 and 2022 for projects that can promote cooperation and networking within the circular economy.
