ACR+ member Wallonia has published the results of the waste prevention barometer 2022. This survey included a series of questions on topics as varied as organic waste, packaging waste, litter and reuse. The latest data, collected in 2018, was updated in 2022 in order to estimate the evolution of the behaviour, knowledge and perception of Walloon households with regard to their waste consumption and production.
The volume of waste generated by Walloon households remains too high, a transition towards sustainable consumption patterns is taking place. In 2022, 49% of households threw away leftovers at least once a week, which is 3% more than in 2018. However, second-hand items are gaining in popularity and the preference for bulk, reusable and recyclable packaging is confirmed.
