Statistics Flanders published two new Flemish Public Statistics based on legally required annual reports submitted to Europe by ACR+ member OVAM. These concern data on packaging waste supplied by the Interregional Packaging Commission and waste shipments. There are significant differences in the different material streams recycled: glass (100%), metals (95%), beverage cartons (94%) and paper/cardboard (92%). Plastics scored significantly lower, with a recycling rate of 47% in 2019. The total export of waste materials from the Flemish Region amounted to 1,823,025 tonnes in 2019.
