The Belgian world music Sfinks festival won the Green Event Award (a national recognition for sustainable events) in 2015 and has been an example of waste reduction for years. This year, with the support of ACR+ member OVAM, the festival took a new step by introducing reusable bowls and plates in addition to reusable cups. All catering equipment for the 7,500 visitors was hired through an all-in service, which meant that no washing-up facilities were needed on the premises. In addition, a network event on reusable catering materials took place during the festival where more than 50 festival and event organisers, municipalities and intermunicipalities were introduced to the systems and the range of suppliers.
