To establish a long-term financially and environmentally sustainable system for the disposal of bulky waste, in mid-June ACR+ member Zagreb started to organise a new system with no intermediaries in the separation and disposal of bulky waste. Thus, the municipality announced two tenders, one for the purchase of shredders and one for the lease of a shredder until the procurement procedure is completed.

It is estimated that if all bulky waste, collected from citizens and recycling yards, after separation is shredded and disposed of by the municipality itself, the monthly cost would amount to a total of approximately KN 404 thousand (EUR 53,881), which would generate an annual saving of KN 33 million (EUR 4,401,180).
