The Flemish Government has approved its long-term vision on incineration and landfill, providing an overview of the current supply of combustible waste and the available processing capacity. The vision makes forecasts for the supply of residual waste in the longer term based on existing and planned measures.

ACR+ member OVAM will first work on a decrease in the amount of waste offered for incineration. As soon as the supply of combustible waste has declined structurally, capacity for waste incineration will be proportionally reduced. OVAM will develop an instrument that supports the voluntary reduction of the least performing capacity.
