ACR+ member Madrid city council has started to install 1,300 smart bins that will be distributed throughout all city districts until October, when they will be fully implemented.

These compactors are solar powered and prevent overflow of waste while reducing the frequency of emptying. Consequently, costs decrease, as well as the emission of greenhouse gases. Its implementation is another step in the intelligent management of waste, since some of these bins allow the selective collection of containers; they compact the waste and include sensors to know the filling level and proceed to empty it. Besides, they allow progress in the objective of achieving a circular economy model based on reuse and recycling.
