From January to July 2024, urban waste collection in Lisbon rose by 3.9% compared to the same period in 2023, totalling 186 000 tonnes, a 7 000 tonnes increase.

In the first half of the year, Lisbon's Urban Hygiene teams collected over 3 000 tonnes of bulky waste across around 40 000 actions. Garden waste increased by 50%, adding 878 tonnes, while used cooking oils grew by 37.8%, with an additional 0.7 tonnes. Packaging waste rose by 7%, with an extra 620 tonnes collected. Organic waste increased by 4.2%, totalling 576 tonnes, and paper collection saw a 1.7% rise, or 207 tonnes more. This effort underscores the importance of Lisbon residents' cooperation in keeping the city clean and organised. To schedule bulky waste collection or report public space issues, residents can use the "Na Minha Rua" (In My Street) app.
