Each year, CITEO conducts quality assessments on recycled materials in France, with results from 2023 indicating overall stable or slightly reduced quality across various materials. Steel showed approximately 10% full compliance and 30% nearly meeting standards, while aluminium met standards in almost all analyses. Paper and cardboard exhibited decreased quality, except for laminated types which improved slightly. Graphic paper saw a noticeable decline in average quality. Plastics maintained stable quality overall, meeting required standards, while glass processors reported a consistently low (2%) and stable proportion of poor-quality glass in streams.
