Energy Cities, in collaboration with various NGOs, think tanks, and civil society organisations, has established the Cool Heating Coalition. This coalition aims to advocate for sustainable, renewable, and affordable heating and cooling solutions throughout the EU. Decarbonising heating and cooling systems is crucial for transitioning to a low-carbon built environment. However, Eurostat data from 2021 indicates that only 23% of heating and cooling consumption in the EU comes from renewables, with the majority still relying on fossil fuels. Therefore, facilitating the transition to renewable, sustainable, and cost-effective heating and cooling alternatives is imperative. The coalition's upcoming webinar "Fahrenheit 2040: Heating and Cooling in the EU" will explore policy options for decarbonising heating and cooling systems by 2040.
