The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), in collaboration with Flanders Circular (involving OVAM) and the Flemish ports, has launched the new research chair "Chair Circular Port Monitoring in Flanders." Over the next two years, this chair will focus on developing a monitoring system to measure the impact of the circular economy on the ports. A scientifically-based monitoring system will allow the three Flemish seaports to make their circular ambitions tangible and measure the real impact of relevant indicators. This initiative aims to complement existing sustainability reporting obligations and strategic plans that the ports must adhere to. Additionally, the outcomes of this chair will be relevant to other ports worldwide.
