A pilot program has been launched in Belfast to tackle parking issues that hinder timely waste collection. The initiative, called 'Park with us in mind', is a collaboration between Belfast City Council, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, and the Department for Infrastructure. It targets areas where waste collection vehicles struggle to access due to poor, inconsiderate, or illegal parking. Six areas have been identified for the pilot based on data on frequent missed collections. During the 18-month pilot, streets will undergo phased approaches to address parking problems. Initially, cars causing obstruction or parked illegally will receive advisement notices. Police Service of Northern Ireland and Department for Infrastructure officers will conduct patrols and educational outreach activities. Persistent issues may lead to enforcement actions.
