LIPOR and its Associated Municipalities inaugurated the new organic waste composting park in Laúndos. This park represents an investment of around EUR 3.2 million and was funded by POSEUR - the Operational Programme for Sustainability and Efficiency in Resource Use. The new park covers an area of 13 400 m2 and aims to locally treat the organic waste selectively collected in the municipalities of Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde, respecting the integrated and circular approach to biowaste. The inaugurated composting park has an organic waste reception capacity of 8 000 tonnes per year, corresponding to an annual compost production capacity of over 2 000 tonnes, thus addressing the challenges outlined in the National Waste Management Plan, PERSU 2030, for LIPOR.
