The European Commission will pass the European Green Capital title from Oslo, the 2019 title holder, to ACR+ member Lisbon, officially starting Lisbon’s year as European Green Capital, during the Handover and Opening Ceremony of the Lisbon European Green Capital 2020, taking place on 11 January 2020.
 
Lisbon Green Capital Year will be a testimony to the city’s global commitment with the transition towards a sustainable future.

The motto of the year is therefore “choosing to evolve” and Lisbon will showcase how cities all around the world are changing to become future-proof and provide opportunities and quality of life for its citizens in the long term.
