ACR+ recently participated in a two-day study visit to one of its members, the province of Friesland in The Netherlands, alongside ACR+ members Zero Waste Scotland and Circular Flanders and other key partners of the region like Business Tampere. The visit focused on exchanging knowledge and exploring Friesland’s advancements in circular economy practices. Highlights included a tour of Omrin’s plastic recycling facility and a visit to a biobased house in Nieuwehorne, where participants discussed material loops and sustainable construction methods.
In addition to site visits, workshops were held to discuss circular business models and SME engagement, offering valuable insights into fostering cross-regional collaboration. The visit underscored the importance of future cooperation, particularly in developing joint monitoring tools, knowledge exchange, sustainable procurement, and biobased construction strategies, as part of the broader push for a sustainable circular economy.
