Turkey Composts Logo ENG 400mp

Turkey Composts! aimed at increasing composting practices in the municipalities of Turkey, supporting local governments in Turkey to implement the Regulation on Waste Management and in bio-waste management, increasing awareness of compost in the general public in Turkey and finally increasing cooperation between the local governments and CSOs working on waste and composting in Turkey and EU.

Highlights

On 12 January 2017, the final conference of the TurkeyComposts! project was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference gathered expert speakers from Europe and Turkey to present best practices in bio-waste management and composting strategies. This conference was the final activity of the TurkeyComposts! project.

The final conference focused on presenting the status quo of composting practices in Turkey and in Europe and addressed municipality representatives, NGOs and academia. Participants learnt about the composting process and the use of compost as a fertilizer and received an update regarding existing facilities in Turkey as well as the main challenges and opportunities related to the application of composting in Turkish municipalities.

The LIFE SMART Waste projectSmarter Regulation of Waste in Europe – set an innovative pan-European partnership between key bodies involved with addressing waste crime.

The project was funded under the LIFE+ programme and it runs from June 2014 until May 2020.

 

Highlights

During nearly six years, the LIFE SMART Waste project developed and demonstrated innovative ways of understanding, tackling and reducing the issue of waste crime. For an highlight of this work, read the project’s final newsletter featuring the Layman's report summarising LIFE SMART Waste’s work, results and recommendations; INTERPOL’s strategic analysis report on global plastic waste management; the project’s final conference… It also gives a glimpse of the capacity-building resources that can be used to help predict emerging criminality in waste markets, detect problematic waste operators and enable more effective collaboration to address waste crime. All the resources will be available on the project's website (until May 2025).

The EPR Club was created as an ACR+ initiative supported financially and technically by ACR+ members. Today the EPR Club has an open membership gathering a wide range of stakeholders, including public authorities, producer organisations, industry federations, waste management companies, NGOs.

The EPR Club is a multi-stakeholder platform for exchange of knowledge and dissemination of good EPR practices amongst key European stakeholders and experts, including the European institutions. The aim is to foster dialogue on policy developments and technical implementation of EPR schemes in order to bring forward European legislation and policy on EPR.

The EPR Club was launched in June 2012, with the support of the European Commission.

The EPR Club is happy to announce the reactivation of our series of events with an engaging Lunch-Debate, aimed at kickstarting our activities. We are seizing this opportunity to reconvene our club, discuss pivotal developments, and outline our plans for the rest of this crucial European Union election year.

The DECISIVE final conference took place in September 2020, the developers and practitioners of the DECISIVE scheme for decentralised biowaste management shared their experiences, conclusions and suggestion for the way forward.
