LIPOR, along with its Associated Municipalities, conducted surveys among the population as part of the development of action plans for implementing the Urban Waste Strategic Plan 2030 (PAPERSU). A questionnaire was used to assess urban waste management in the LIPOR's influence area. The survey aimed to measure the general population's knowledge of recycling targets and to assess, from the citizens' perspective, the main challenges in waste management. It sought insights into how to reduce waste production, increase recycling and environmental awareness, and identify widely adopted waste management initiatives. Some of the findings revealed that 50% of participants are unaware of the EU's recycling goals and the targets Portugal must achieve by 2030. Additionally, 49.1% lack detailed knowledge about the current amount they pay for waste management services.
