ACR+ member ORDIF has published data on food waste in the French region Île-de-France in 2022. With less than 7,000 tonnes collected in 2020 by the public service, Île-de-France captures less than 5% of the food waste produced by households. As the deadline of 31 December 2023 and the obligation to sort at source bio-waste approaches, many communities in the region are experimenting or studying, with the support of the regional council, different methods: home or local composting, food waste collection, recovery channels such as anaerobic digestion or micro-composting facilities, etc. Food waste from professionals is better collected with more than 65,000 tonnes collected and mainly sent for methanisation.
