This year was the first ever fully digital EURegionsWeek. It offered to participants more than 500 digital working sessions to discover over three consecutive weeks, from 5-22 October 2020. ACR+ and its members adapted to the new format to offer as always insightful and topical sessions.

The session “Cities fostering the circular transition” took place during the second week under the theme Cohesion and Cooperation. As part of this session, organised in partnership with Bwcon Gmbh and the Technical University of Kosice, we showcased two examples of how to go beyond weight-based indicators and better reflect the environmental impact of local circular economy strategies. During that week ACR+ also participated in “Reuse and repair in a circular economy” webinar to showcase reuse and repair initiatives, highlighting their impact on a circular and social economy.

It is during the third week about Green Europe that most sessions featuring ACR+ and its members took place:

• “Reboot your city in a circular way”, ACR+ members Brusselsand Flanderswill look at how cities and regions invested in a circular economic system and how this has made them more resilient during the crisis during the session.

• “Climate Neutral and Circular Food Production”, ACR+ is a partner and intervened in the session together with our members region Arnhem Nijmegenand LIPOR. This session discusses innovation in food production, presenting in particular the H2020 DECISIVE project.

• URBAN SOIL 4 FOOD, ACR+ member Maribor presented the Urban Soil 4 Food project, a way to a circular Maribor. The project has developed an integrated city-wide system, in which the city is using biological waste, waste from green trimmings and excavation materials from construction to produce innovative Urban Soil with a tailor-made pilot production plant, and making it available for citizens to use for urban agricultural activities increasing their food self-sufficiency and strengthening their collaborative fibre.
