On 15 November 2013 in Barcelona, ACR+ held its annual General Assembly, followed by a Board of Directors meeting. During the latter, the Board appointed a new President of the Association. Mr. Josep Maria Tost i Borràs, Director of the Catalan Waste Agency (Agència de Residus de Catalunya) will be in power for two years.

Mr. Tost i Borràs has committed to promoting the four working axes of ACR+ (awareness-raising and its flagship project, the European Week for Waste Reduction, the economic and legal instruments and the Extended Producer Responsibility Club, the ACR+ European Observatory, and North-South cooperation), and proposed the creation of a working group on the future of waste management in the context of circular economy. He also stressed the possibility of cooperation between the ACR+MED platform, with a special focus on the Mediterranean area, and the Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CPRAC), created within the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP).

The Board of Directors also elected five Vice-Presidents, in charge of the above-mentioned working axes:

  • Mr. Roberto Cavallo, COVAR14 (Italy);
  • Mr. Helder De Oliveira, ORDIF (France);
  • Mr. Jean-Pierre Hannequart, Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium);
  • Mr. Fernando Leite, LIPOR (Portugal);
  • Mr. Svend B. Poulsen, Odense Renovation (Denmark).
