North London

A During the summer 2016, ACR+ member North London Waste Authority (NLWA) worked in partnership with environmental charity Hubbub to run a new summer-themed food waste project, namely “New Leaf”, which focused on salad waste reduction. The project consisted of three elements: Surplus Salad Feast, the main flagship event; cookery sessions; and composting sessions.

Through the project, 1.267 residents were engaged directly and it was estimated that the Surplus Salad Feast, the cookery and composting sessions diverted more than 16 tonnes of waste from disposal.

Communications and social media channels reached more than 30 million people, a promotional video has been realized and the project gained coverage in pan-London media, including a television interview about the project.
