Vitrus Ambiente has released data on organic waste collection in Guimarães for the first half of 2024. Vitrus collected 3 600 tonnes of organic waste during this period, reflecting a 40% increase compared to the same time last year. Guimarães continues to be one of the leading municipalities in Portugal for organic waste collection, with significant contributions from the PAYT system and door-to-door collections in various parishes. Organic waste collected from restaurants, cemeteries, and schools amounted to 477 tonnes. This ongoing effort is a key part of Guimarães' strategy to promote a circular economy and achieve carbon neutrality.
