City of Warsaw is tackling food waste through the "no waste. food co-op" initiative, which encourages restaurants to donate surplus food to those in need. The initiative connects restaurants with public benefit organisations to reduce food waste in the city. Participating restaurants are marked with a special sticker, and a guide titled "Collaborate, Don’t Waste! - How to Support NGOs by Donating Food Legally" helps them navigate the legal and tax aspects of food donation. The Warsaw Food Lab, a joint effort by the city and SWPS University, organised the initiative as part of the EU-funded Food Trails project. The lab aims to find solutions to reduce food waste and increase food circularity in urban areas.
