ACR+ member Torres Vedras continues the "Seringas só no agulhão" (Syringes only in the needle) project, which was one of the winners of the 2021 edition of its Participatory Budgeting. Due to its success, the municipality has decided to renew it, ensuring funding for its continuation. The project involved the installation of needle disposal containers in 22 participating pharmacies and the Torres Vedras unit of the Oeste Hospital Center. The containers have a capacity of 10 litres and are used to collect potentially contaminated injection waste. The waste deposited in these containers has been collected every two months, being duly sent to its final destination. The containers will continue to be available in the same locations in the municipality.
