Through a new campaign, OVAM and Bebat (association responsible for collection, sorting and recycling of batteries) encourage Flemish families to collect empty batteries and bring them to a collection point: "Go to the finish line with your used batteries!". The campaign runs from 3 April to 7 May and aims to give Flemish families an additional incentive to collect their discharged batteries and hand them in at a collection point. The collection of batteries is important because they are a valuable source of reusable raw materials. The average Flemish family has no less than 33 empty batteries at home, which means that there are 33 opportunities to give them a new life. For example, a new spectacle frame can be made from the raw materials of 13 batteries.
