The Catalan Secretary for Climate Action highlighted the importance of the new Municipal Waste Treatment Centre in the region of Segrià, which has been fully financed by ACR+ member the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) with a budget of EUR 20 million. The facility now has a refurbished composting plant for the organic fraction of municipal waste, with a treatment capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year and a treatment plant for the mixed waste. In addition, the new mixed waste treatment plant will allow the pre-treatment of this fraction. With a management capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year, the plant will recover materials that can still be used, such as plastics and metals.
