Contactless smart containers for waste disposal have been installed in the centre of ACR+ member Zagreb, on the European Square.
 
These containers allow disposal without contact, it is enough to stand in front of them more than two seconds and it will start automatically opening doors. They are equipped with sensors that monitor real-time occupancy and a software application that allows the creation of optimal discharge routes, thus reducing the number of public waste collection by over 80%. In addition to all of the above, the container is autonomous and efficient, as it is equipped with a solar power supply and a press that compresses the waste to a volume that is six times smaller. A complete green island has been set up on the European Square, which includes smart containers for the disposal of paper waste, plastic and metal packaging and glass, as well as separate smart containers for mixed municipal waste.
