Cascais Ambiente 80px

The Cascais City Council is implementing an innovative six-month-long pilot project in the territory of Carcavelos to increase the waste separated and sent for recycling. This project aims to prepare residents for a new habit that will be mandatory across Europe from 2023: to separate the remains of food.

To explain it in detail to residents, a team of technicians from ACR+ member Cascais Ambiente visited them. During their visits, they distributed plastic bags for food scraps and small containers to each participant. Only those bags for food scraps can be used, as they are easily recognised and separated later at Tratolixo's waste treatment unit.
