On 27 February 2019, 14 leading Portuguese institutions founded the eCOLab Association — Collaborative Laboratory Towards Circular Economy, which aims to promote the circular economy in a collaborative way, with a focus on innovation and commercialising innovation.

Among the founding members is ACR+ member Lipor, alongside companies like BLC3, Aquitex, Lipor, Mota-Engil, TMG, RAIZ (Navigator Group), LNEG, ISQ, UAVR, UCP, UC, NOVA and UPORTO.

In addition to the principles of the circular economy, the project espouses the development of products that either contain natural products or emulate natural processes in order to promote the sustainable and innovative use of natural resources.
