One year ago, LIPOR and its partner municipalities inaugurated the new Automatic Packaging Sorting Unit (TAE), the largest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula. The TAE has increased packaging processing capacity, improved material quality, and offered greater operational reliability and flexibility. Over the past 12 months, it has logged 1 060 work hours, produced 10 192 bales, and processed 7 320 tonnes of materials. The EUR 9 million investment has boosted packaging processing capacity and recycling rates, aligning with the Strategic Plan for Municipal Waste (PERSU 2030) goals.
The TAE is a model of innovation and digitalisation, featuring advanced tools for real-time mass balance monitoring, remote operation control, and precise material quality assurance through optical systems and artificial intelligence.
