Championing soil literacy through innovative teaching practices

As part of the EU Mission Soil’s goal to enhance soil literacy, the PREPSOIL project has selected best practices in soil education to inspire teachers across Europe. By identifying and promoting these innovative teaching practices, PREPSOIL empowers educators to engage students in understanding the essential role of soil in natural, urban, and agricultural environments. Between 2023 and 2024, more than 50 best practice submissions were received from teachers across six countries, showcasing creative and interdisciplinary approaches to soil education. A panel of experts, including teachers, a soil scientist, and a pedagogy specialist, selected the most exemplary entries, which featured hands-on experiences and multisensory learning activities. 

On 13 February 2025, a webinar was held featuring two of the winning entries, allowing educators to explore successful approaches to soil education.
