On 19 July, the WES project co-organised a consultation with the Lebanese Ministry of Environment concerning the revision of ten of the National Environmental Guidelines and Emission Limit Values for the food processing (dairy, slaughterhouses, cattle farms, meat processing, beverage manufacturing) and construction industries (concrete masonry, stone cutting, asphalt manufacturing, concrete, paints). More than 35 stakeholders joined this meeting that aimed to launch a consultation process leading to national guidelines and ministerial decision making. In addition, these guidelines will serve as reference tools to help illegal operations to legally register and comply with environmental regulations and to guide those who wish to set up such plants in the future.
