Last Thursday 19 November 2020, the first day of the kickoff meeting (KoM) of the FoodRUs project took place. The project aims to limit food losses and waste, and to promote resource efficiency across all stages of the agri-food value chain. The three-and -a-half-year-long project, coordinated by ACR+ member the University of Deusto, comprises 29 partners from 10 European countries including ACR+ and will involve 40 stakeholders.

During the meeting, the three pilots were presented: a cross-regional Spanish pilot focused on vegetables and prepared salads; a Danish pilot concentrated on meat and fish; and a Slovakian pilot analysing the bread value chain.

In order to promote the replicability of the tested solutions, FoodRUs will prepare best practice toolkits and involve six regions as “Followers”. ACR+ will be leading the work related to the cooperation with other projects and its replicability in other territories. ACR+ members interested in finding out more about replication opportunities are encouraged to contact the ACR+ secretariat.

The second day of the KoM took place on 23 November to present the rest of the project’s activities.
