With the view to drafting an opinion on the New Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Committee of the Regions has opened a public consultation, accepting submissions until 29 May. The draft opinion will be shared with the Commission and will emphasise the need and implications for a territorial anchoring of the transition to a circular economy.

ACR+ submitted a response to highlight, among others, the need for EU targets for waste prevention and reuse, the importance of social aspects when devising resource management policies, and the fact that the extended producer responsibility principle is key to boosting the circularity of a great variety of products.
