Over 200 delegates, representing 52 countries and a range of international bodies, attended ‘Smarter waste regulation and pollution crime enforcement’, the LIFE SMART Waste project's final conference on 12-13 November 2019, organised jointly with the INTERPOL Environmental Security Programme and the INTERPOL Pollution Crime Working Group which held its 24th Meeting on 14 November 2019.

Tools, techniques, and approaches to understand and reduce waste crime were the key themes guiding discussions at the conference. As a partner of the LIFE SMART Waste project, ACR+ led a workshop on the COLLECTORS Horizon 2020 project during which representatives of environmental agencies and organisation dealing with the collection, decontamination, and recycling of household WEEE discussed how to tackle WEEE scavenging.

A selection of the supporting slides used during the conference presentations by both LIFE SMART Waste and (select) INTERPOL PCWG speakers are now available online. You will also find their videos (11 in total) of the LIFE SMART Waste project presentations and Question & Answer sessions which were recorded for the benefit of stakeholders unable to attend the conference in Brussels.
