The European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. This year again ACR+ and several of its members will actively take part in the EWRC by organising or speaking at various events.

On 9 October 2018, ACR+ its member Cleantech Region together with Arnhem Nijmegen City Region and Zwolle organise a conference “The role of regions in the transition towards a Circular Economy”. The event will focus on three pillars: information, inspiration and activation of the field of circular economy.
In the morning of 10 October 2018, ACR+ member Zero Waste Scotland will host a workshop “Delivering the circular economy in cities and regions” in order to present the circular economy in action in Scotland, a host nation of this year’s Circular Economy Hotspot. The afternoon of 10 October 2018 will be dedicated to the workshop on “Circular economy for sustainable development” of cities and regions organised by the Municipality of Maribor. It will focus on capacity building and the exchange of experiences and good practices regarding specific regional and city models, as well as practices in promoting and realising the transition to a circular economy.

On 11 October 2018, in the framework of the Urban Agenda Partnership on Circular Economy, ACR+ is co-organising a workshop “Aiming at a Circular City Portal : a one-stop shop for cities transitioning to circular economy” with its member OVAM, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, and Eurocities. The aim of the workshop is to inform cities and network organisations of the opportunities of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform as a portal to strategies and case studies in circular economy. Participants will have the opportunity to directly share their inputs. Seats are limited so if you are interested we warmly invite you to already register online.
It will be our pleasure to see you in these events as well as welcome you in our offices if you are in Brussels, so don’t hesitate to stop-by to say hello!
